Encore, perhaps?

Hi there,

Is anyone able to give me more information on this pack please?

Encore is written on the front and it's a Waddingtons pack but I've not been able to match it with those on this site. It looks like a Barribal design too. The design on the card also features on the bottom of the box.

I am looking to find out what they're worth.

Many thanks,

William

Hi William, could you possibly upload an image of the ace of spades and joker, plus a view of the front of the box. Encore was one of Waddingtons’ trade marks and the series of backs often appears in their trade brochures for the 1930s shown on the site.

Hi William. This back design in the "Encore" series is called "Seagull". It appeared in Waddington catalogues between 1924 and 1928. The design is taken from a specially designed painting by Maynard Brown, hence the initials "M B" in the lower right-hand corner.

Many thanks Simon and Roddy for your response. That's amazing news that these are on the edge of being antique. They have a lovely gold trim on the edge of the cards. I've added a few more photos.

I don't suppose you'd have a steer on how much they're worth or anything? Complete deck and have a linen effect feel to them? Although you can't tell when they're spread, once they're in a pile, they have a lovely gold sheen on the side.

Thanks again,
William
