Celebrating 50 years of innovation in Volvo car design.

1995 United Kingdom Cartamundi Advertising Commemorative Transport

Volvo cars have always had a reputation for being sturdy and reliable, built to cope with harsh Swedish winters. Innovations in safety features introduced since 1944 include three-point safety belts, heated rear windows, rear-facing child seats, and the side impact protection system (SIPS). All these and more are celebrated in this pack which has 52 different images. Each innovation is named and dated, set against a blue background. Plain blue backs with “VOLVO” in white at both ends. • See the box

Roddy started collecting stamps on his 8th birthday. In 1977 he joined the newly formed playing-card department at Stanley Gibbons in London before setting up his own business in Edinburgh four years later. His collecting interests include playing cards, postcards, stamps (especially playing cards on stamps) and sugar wrappers. He is a Past President of the Scottish Philatelic Society, a former Chairman of the IPCS, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards and Curator of the WCMPC’s collection of playing cards. He lives near Toulouse in France.
