The Glasgow Pack
Issued to celebrate Glasgow’s reign as European City of Culture in 1990, with city views and works of art.
To celebrate Glasgow’s reign as European City of Culture in 1990, the construction firm MDW commissioned the production of this souvenir pack. The images come from a variety of sources, as acknowledged on the extra card. These include buildings, old views, and works of art found in the city’s many art galleries. On the reverse is the coat of arms of Glasgow – “Let Glasgow Flourish” – first granted in 1866. The design includes Saint Mungo, the patron saint of Glasgow, and three fish – a reference to a story that Mungo was able to retrieve a lost golden ring belonging to Queen Languoreth of Strathclyde from the mouth of a fish fished from the River Clyde • See the tuck box
