Luxury pack for the Spanish fashion house Loewe, with 17th century costume designs by Margot Hamilton Hill.

1970 Spain Heraclio Fournier Margot Hamilton Hill Advertising Fashion & Costume Luxury

Merely by using black and gold in her designs, Margot Hamilton Hill, an illustrator and lecturer on the history of fashion, has managed to convey a sense of luxury in this pack for Loewe, the Spanish fashion house. The full-length courts are dressed in fashionable 17th century costumes, with further gold and black decoration on the Aces. The pips have been given an individual look without being too different from the norm. The maker’s name and tax stamp appear on the 4 of Clubs. The double-ended back design features a capital ‘L’ for Loewe in brown and gold. The cards have gilt corners.
