Het Olympisch kaart- en kwartetspel

Published July 26, 2024 Updated July 26, 2024

Dual-purpose set featuring photos of sporting figures from the Netherlands on every card.

1992 Netherlands Cartamundi Olympics Quartet

Although the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona are not mentioned specifically on either the cards or the box, this pack must have been issued to coincide with that event. The Olympic rings can be found on the box and also as part of the back design which additionally features the colours of the Dutch flag and an advert for Nationale-Nederlanden, a Dutch financial service provider. On the faces are 55 different colour photos of Dutch sportsmen and sportswomen set jauntily at an angle against a grey background. For the quartet game, the cards are divided into 13 sets of 4, covering hockey, cycling, rowing, table tennis, swimming, athletics, judo, badminton, winter sports, volleyball, sailing, tennis and team sports. The sets run right through the pack, starting with the Ace of Hearts and finishing with the Ace of Spades. The titles and names of the sporting figures are given in the bottom left-hand corner of each card. The back design is repeated on the back of the box. The whole set was the creation of Studio Bas van der Heide bv, Amersfoort.
