2010 Latvia Puse Plus Ltd Photography Souvenir

Riga is famed for its architecture, and rightly so. It has one of the best preserved city centres in Europe. Its most famous buildings date from the Art Nouveau period, but many other eras are well represented too. The 54 different colour photographs in this pack are not randomly organised: for example, the Kings feature different towers, the 9s show hotels, and the 5s depict fountains. Each view is discreetly named down the left-hand side of the image. L. Balodis and I. Stūrmanis are credited with the photography. The publishers (Puse Plus) are a design studio in Riga. See the box

In 1977 he joined the newly formed playing-card department at Stanley Gibbons in London before setting up his own business in Edinburgh four years later. His collecting interests include playing cards, postcards, stamps (especially playing cards on stamps) and sugar wrappers. He is a Past President of the Scottish Philatelic Society, a former Chairman of the IPCS, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards and Curator of the WCMPC’s collection of playing cards. He lives near Toulouse in France.
