Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico
Promotional pack for Chianti Classico wine, with designs by Costante Costantini.
Bold use of primary colours, plus touches of green, combined with strong black outlines are the trademark of the artist, Costante Costantini, who went on to design several more packs after this one. The gallo nero, the symbol of the Chianti Classico wine consortium for whom this pack was produced, is featured prominently, notably on the Ace of Coins, the Ace of Cups and the Joker. The artist’s name is included on all the court cards, the Ace of Coins and the Joker. Although most Italian-suited packs contain 40 cards, this one has 44, there being both a Cavalier and a Queen in each suit, allowing the possibility of playing with either one of them. The logo of the Chianti Classico wine consortium appears on the back and stamped on the lid of the box►
