Asha Industries’ Castilian pattern

Colourful Spanish (Castilian) pattern cards made by Asha Industries in India for Mexico.

2002 India Mexico Asha Industries Castilian Pattern

Merely by looking at the colourful Ace of Coins in this pack one can tell immediately that it was made for Mexico rather than for Spain. Fortunately, this is confirmed on the label affixed to the plastic box where the Mexican importer’s name is given. Apart from the exotic creatures on the Ace of Coins, the exaggerated crowns on the four kings are the main distinguishing feature. There is much use of purple, dark blue and green throughout. The maker’s name appears on the Ace and 4 Coins and on the 5 of Swords. See the box
