Jeu de la Révolution
Artist Silvia Maddonni’s take on various characters from the French Revolution, in honour of the bicentenary in 1989.
Colour, movement and a sense of fun are hallmarks of Silvia Maddonni’s designs. In this pack she has managed to capture the essence of various characters associated with the French Revolution in a modern style which is at once pleasing. The characters include Louis XVI, Danton, Robespierre and Charlotte Corday. At the foot of each court card is a famous quotation linked to the character depicted. Their names and further information are contained in the bilingual leaflet. Typical revolutionary types (tricoteuse, sans-culotte, etc.) are shown on the Aces and Jokers. The indices and pips on the black suits are printed in dark blue. See the box►
