Ginette Robitaille
Stylish designs from the mid-1980s by a Canadian artist.
The first thing that strikes one on looking at this pack is the colours that have been used for the suits – pink for the red suits and purple for the black suits. Is this a nod to the colours which were predominant in the punk era? The designs are clean and crisp, with the clothing on the court cards appearing quite flat. All the Kings sport beards. Apart from the Aces, an oval frame is present throughout. A triple-line lettering style has been used for the indices. “©1984” and the artist’s signature appear on all the court cards, Aces and Jokers (here named “Fou”).
