Bohemia Moravia
Historical figures from Bohemia and Moravia in Piatnik’s traditional style.
In the 1990s, Piatnik extended their range of packs featuring historical characters from different European countries and regions – Scotland, Bavaria, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, etc. This one features historical figures from Bohemia and Moravia (roughly equivalent in area to the modern-day Czech Republic) on the double-ended court cards, including Jan Hus, the religious reformer. The back design includes the arms of both Bohemia and Moravia set against either a red or a blue background. Piatnik No. 2554. See the box►

In 1977 he joined the newly formed playing-card department at Stanley Gibbons in London before setting up his own business in Edinburgh four years later. His collecting interests include playing cards, postcards, stamps (especially playing cards on stamps) and sugar wrappers. He is a Past President of the Scottish Philatelic Society, a former Chairman of the IPCS, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards and Curator of the WCMPC’s collection of playing cards. He lives near Toulouse in France.
